Overview over the functions of the Texteditor

In the default view, the Texteditor window (?) is located in the upper centre of "Corpus" work space. The text field is empty when no text from the Corpora is chosen. After the text is chosen, in the "EgyTextEditor" tab the title of the chosen text will appear and in the text-input field below you will be able to see, enter, or edit a transliteration for it. This chapter provides the general description of the window. For a step-by-step instruction of how to enter a new text please refer to the relevant chapter in the "How-to" section of this manual.

Texteditor window contains two text-input fields. The upper one can display either "Transliteration", "Sign-Text-Editor" or "JSeshEditor" - depending on the tab selected underneath the window. The lower textbox displays translation of the sentence, selected in the upper window.

- Transliteration tab

Here you can enter or modify the transliteration of the text. Be careful to follow the system'sBTS Grammar Reference, otherwise the autochecker system will trigger an error. Transliteration tab is semantically connected to the Lemmatizer tab below, where the transliterated words are referenced to individual lemmata.

- Sign-Text-Editor tab

"Sign-Text-Editor" tab provides the hieroglyphic version of the text. Initially only the transliteration is displayed there - each word / lemma in a separate box. The hieroglyphic input is done in the (Hieroglyph Type Writer ) tab below. The hieroglyphic values, entered there, are automatically applied to the selected lemmas in the "Sign-Text-Editor" window.

- JSeshEditor tab

BUG: With the bookmark "JseshEditor" momentarily only the first line of hieroglyphic text is displayed.

There are several buttons above the "Texteditor" window:

"Load Lemmata of Text" loads the word borders of your texts to be able to lemmatize the words in the next step.(CLARIFY !!!!!)

"Add Annotation" adds the Annotation to the selected part of your text.

"Add Rubrum" converts the active lemma into a rubrum, which is indicated by red script (Schrift? Font?) in the text.

"Add Subtext/Glosse" adds a subtext or a gloss respectively as a "child" of your text. You can edit it separately.

"Add Comment" adds a comment to the selected part. It will be underlined yellow.

You can use those functions also via the dropdown menu that appears when you click the triangle on the right.

Additionally, for Annotations, Rubra and Comments, a small, rectangular bar will appear on the right side of the Text-Editor with the corresponding colour. Clicking on the bar will bring you to the marked fragment of the text.

"Translation of sentence" text input field

Underneath the texteditor field there is a text-input field, where you can enter your translation. It is empty unless a lemma has been selected in the "Text editor" window.

"Languages" icon offers a dropdown with a number of languages ( English, German, French, Spanish, Russian) to choose from. Choose a language which your text should be translated in.
