General description of the UI after the programm start. Definition of the major parts of the UI.
After startup the BTS main window appears. At the top there are the menu bar (highlighted on the picture below with dark blue) and the toolbar (pink). Below them there is the Work space, which is divided into four parts representing the program's elements: Navigator on the left (which, depending on the view selected, displays Corpus-, Thesaurus- or Lemma-Navigator) (maked green on the screenshot) and Commentary (Annotation) on the right (dark red). In the top centre there is the "Editor", displaying Text-(light blue). In the lower centre there are the Data elements ( "Lemma-" or/and Passporteditor (orange) aswell as the HTW.
Organization of the program's elements
Each element of the workspace just presented (Navigator, Editor, Data, Commentary) is organized in three levels: View, Window and Tab.
Contentual Organization: View
The "View" is a fix level being grouped into Corpus, Lemma and Thesaurus. Switching the View from one to another loads the associated content-elements (Navigator, Editor, Data, Commentary) into the workspace. This means the complete workspace can be switched.
Optical Organisation: Windows and Tabs
The elements inside a View are organized in windows and tabs. These two levels of the UI are dynamic which means you can change the position of those windows as you wish and group elements into tabs inside each window or seperate them. Note that after programm restart the default view is restored.

With the entries in the menu bar you can configure your settings and view help texts (BUG: curently unavailable). The butons of the tool bar offer functions like "save" or "undo" changes. The Corpus Navigator presents the text database in a hierarchic structure. In the Texteditor you can see transliteration and hieroglyphs and enter transliteration and translation. The Passport Editor provides the possibility to enter the metadata of the selected texts.
After startup "Ready" appears in the lower left corner. Later you will see there additional information about your current position.
